Our Story

The Hackney School of Food was established in March 2020 by the LEAP Federation of Schools (Gayhurst Community School, Kingsmead Primary and Mandeville Primary) in partnership with the charity Chefs in Schools. It was created by transforming a derelict and unused former caretaker’s house into a professional kitchen and garden.

Central to our mission is the belief that sharing great food unites families, communities, and society as a whole. We facilitate food education through high-quality training, resources and fresh produce that reflects our ‘seed to spoon’ ethos. We aim to inspire healthy lifestyles, great nutrition, enjoyment and inclusivity.
