The School of Food Toolkit

Do you want to create a food education hub in your school or community?

We have produced a toolkit to help just to do that!

This toolkit will help you put food education at the heart of your school or community.

It pulls together the knowledge and experience gathered during the creation, building and launch of the Hackney School of Food.

Funded by the William Sutton Prize, it aims to create a network of food education hubs up and down the country which put good food culture at the heart of schools, communities and children’s lives.

Whether you embark on a small-scale project such as transforming a classroom, or a larger-scale scheme to create your own state–of-the-art cookery school, the guide can be adapted to suit you.

It’s bursting with architectural know-how from Surman Weston, and insights from our founding partners, LEAP Federation and Chefs in Schools.

The toolkit is free so download and get inspired now!

The project was funded by the William Sutton Prize, developed by Clarion Housing Group to celebrate the legacy of its founder, William Sutton, as a 19th century innovator and philanthropist who bequeathed his fortune to improve the quality of social housing. Thank you to them for supporting us.
