HSoF Autumn Term ’23 Cooking Club

Get your kids feeling confident in the kitchen this Autumn with the Hackney School of Food cooking club!
The Hackney School of Food cooking club will introduce your children to a wide variety of cooking skills and food flavours. Each week they will learn a new recipe and take a culinary trip around the world. The course will cover knife skills, baking bread and preparing a variety of vegetables and meat. When possible, they will also harvest seasonal produce directly from our gardens.
We can’t wait to see you in the kitchen!
Where and when:
- Every Tuesday between 3.45 – 5.15pm from Tuesday 5 September – Tuesday 12 December
- The club will not run during half term (Tuesday 24 October )
- Drop off and pick up is at the Hackney School of Food, Oswald Street, London E5 0BT
Key information:
- Suitable for children ages 7+ only
- Open to all children
- The cost is £15 per session, paid per term at £210 per child ( 14 sessions)
- Missed sessions will not be reimbursed
- Please tell us about any food allergies and specialist diets in advance

Open House – Meet the Architects
Saturday 9th September 2023, 10:30AM – 1:00PM
As part of Open House Cities this September we are opening our garden gates and kitchen doors. Come and meet the brilliant architects behind our multi award-winning food education hub and find out more about our ‘seed to spoon’ learning.
Surman Weston will be answering questions about the origin of the scheme and how they retrofitted the old school caretaker’s house into the amazing teaching kitchen and gardens.
We are running 2 one hour sessions on this Open Cities afternoon.

Meet the Architects

Meet our brilliant architects behind our multi-award-winning food education hub, as featured in the architectural press and ‘The Sustainable City’.
Surman Weston will be answering questions about the origin of the scheme and how they went about retrofitting the caretaker’s house into the Food Education Hub that stands today with the teaching kitchen, surrounded by productive gardens, supplying ingredients for our lessons.
We are running 2 one hour sessions on this open house afternoon, with an opportunity to meet our Award Winning architects, Surman Weston.
Each session will include:
- A full architectural tour of the kitchen & gardens
- Q&A session

Parent’s cooking & exercise class
Every Friday from 9 June, 10am -1pm
These free cooking and exercise classes are a great chance for parents to learn weight management tips, and how to make delicious, low-cost, family-friendly dishes while enjoying some gentle exercise.
